A Reason to Cheer

10 08 2009

There have been great battles where nations have met in strife, and one has overcome the other; but who has read of a victory that overcame the world? Some will say that Alexander was its conqueror; but in reality, he was himself the vanquished man, even when all things were in his possession. He fought for the world, and won it; and then mark how it mastered its master, conquered its conqueror, and lashed the monarch who had been its scourge. See the royal youth weeping, and stretching out his hands with idiotic cries, for another world which he might ravage. He seemed, in outward show, to have overcome Old Earth; but, in reality, within his inmost soul, the earth had conquered him, had overwhelmed him, had wrapped him in the dream of ambition, girdled him with the chains of covetousness, so that when he had all, he was still dissatisfied; and, like a poor slave, was dragged on at the chariot wheels of the world, crying, moaning, lamenting, because he could not win another. Who is the man that ever overcame the world? Let him stand forward: he is a Triton among the minnows; he shall outshine Caesar; he shall outmatch even our Wellington, if he can say he has overcome the world. It is so rare a thing, a victory so prodigious, a conquest so tremendous, that he who can claim to have won it may walk among his fellows, like Saul, with head and shoulders far above them. He shall command our respect; his very presence shall awe us into reverence; his speech shall persuade us to obedience; and, yielding honor to whom honor is due, we’ll say when we listen to his voice, “Tis even as if an angel shook his wings.”

When in pain, you generally tend to gravitate towards people who have been there. You have this feeling that if you connect with people who went through the suffering themselves and recovered, you feel rejuvenated. Remember how you could pour your heart about love woes to the friend who’s been through a heart break? When someone gets sick, the immediate intuition would be to call or seek the advice of someone who has already recovered from the same ailment. The same may apply in other instances of failure, loneliness, betrayal, deception, rejection or be it anything. Someone who has gone through all this is the best source of truth, insight and reality into the situation.

This same thing applies for everyone of us. We live in a world where Weaknesses, loneliness, deception, rejection, betrayal have a normal norm of the society we live in. Social & workplace issues and family & relationships issues develop into an emotional and mental breakdown. Rejection by the people we love most is the scariest of all.

Most of these, when affects our lives we have no choice to opt. There are no reasons to go on. Life seems to be purposeless, meaningless and aimless. There does not seem to be any brighter side to what has happened. Discouragement and brokenness, disheartened and bitterness is all what remains.

Most of the times when these things happen we must understand that there is a brighter side of this. You might ask me is there anyone who has seem a brighter side.

In the Bible, Jesus says” “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Is’nt it so wonderful? Who else has ever, said something powerful & dynamic like this. “That I have overcome the world”. This Jesus went through all of the same life situations what we have or might go through. Even though he was God, he took the form of man. Left the splendors of heaven and came down to the wretched world to demonstrate & show mankind that what he had created has the power to overcome through Him.

Peace and happiness are possible in a troubled world, but the key to achieving them is locked up in the fact that Jesus overcame the world and in and through Him, we can also. Life must be built on eternal truth. Not on pop Psychology, neo-philosophy, success-motivation or inspirations. Life should be based on the reality and truth.*

Even though Jesus came into this world to seek the lost he was despised and rejected; though he came to show love and compassion, he was betrayed and humiliated. Though he healed every sick and brought the dead back to life, he was physically tortured. He was hung on the cross to die.

But death could not hold him, the grave could not hide him. He rose up from the dead. And is still alive. He is still working the same things that he did when he was on earth. What are you doing to him, how are you responding to his love for you. No matter what, he still loves and cares for you !

And that is why before he ascended back to heaven, he made sure to let you know , “Be cheerful, In this world you will have trouble, but I have overcome this world, and you too can overcome in my name and through my power.”

For God So Loved You

1 05 2009

For God so loved the world that he gave his only son the whosoever believeth in his shall not perish but shall have an everlasting eternal life. John 3:16

Such great was God’s love for you that he chose to allow Jesus to come into this world and die for us on the cross.

The NEED for God to do such an act

Man was separated from God due to sin. And the Bible says that the wages of sin is Death. Man was destined to die because of their sin. But God wanted to reconcile with man. He did not want man whom he had created in His own image to perish and die eternally. God is Holy, and he cannot accept unholy and sinful man to become his child.

Therefore he sent Jesus into the world, so that Jesus could die on the cross. Jesus was sinless. He became the sacrifice for your sin. So that you may not die eternally. Such great was his love for you. Jesus has deemed you from the power of sin and death. He has given you a new life both in this world and in the life to come. The blood that fell out on his body was the sacrifice for your sin.

Many of us get life and other insurances covered to protect our uncertain future. But have you thought about the coverage for what’s going to be after death ? If life is uncertain, death is certain.

Your decision to accept Jesus will determine your destiny. If you accept Jesus and his forgiveness of sin, and invite him as your personal savior, you will become the Son or daughter of God, A son or daughter who has reconciled with their father. You become a part of the Kingdom of God. The kingdom of God has been open for you now. There is no other means of salvation of man accept through Christ Jesus.

The moment you accept Jesus, you become a part of God’s kingdom. You receive Peace that surpasses all understanding, Joy and happiness and a purpose in life.

Today if you listen to his voice, do not harden your heart. Give you life to Jesus. Because tomorrow does not belong to you. If you have not received the salvation through Jesus it high time for you to do it.

If you want to Accept Jesus, just say this prayer from the depth of your heart

Father God, I thank you for sending Jesus into this world to die for my sins. Now, I want to receive the forgiveness of sins through the Blood that Jesus showered on the Cross. Father God, accept me into your kingdom through the Name of you Son Jesus Christ. And cover me by your blood and through the power of the Holy Spirit and through your word. In Jesus name I ask. Amen

If you have sincerely prayed this prayer, then you have become a child of God from now. Now for you is the kingdom of God and his righteousness. May God continually speak to you and enable you to grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ Jesus.

Please do feel free to contact if you have made this prayer or for more information.

Victory in a Spirit filled life

24 04 2009

Quiet often we hear the words, read and hear sermons that say “Christian Life is Victory”. I have heard these words ever since I was a small boy. As I grew up and grew up to be a minister of the gospel, the only message that the Holy Spirit always wanted me to speak was about the Victory through Jesus Christ for every believer. I have been speaking on this particular subject for many years. But it was recently that the Holy Spirit led me into a deeper revelation into this aspect of Christian faith.

In this message I am not touching the basic concepts of what victory is, etc as that would become another large content message.

The Basic Concept of Victory

Let me here put the first basic statement that you need to always keep in mind ‘You cannot be victorious until you know that the enemy no longer exists’.

Jesus has defeated the devil and now we have the victory through him. Jesus defeated the devil on the cross. That is a very simple fact, that the devil has been defeated. So the devil or the enemy we know now is a defeated one. Since Jesus has defeated the enemy for you, your enemy no longer exists. This concept of the enemies non existence has to become a part of our thinking process. So we no longer should know about the enemy.. but we know only a defeated enemy.

How do we experience Victory ?

Being a Christian we cannot go from defeat to victory. We cannot go from no where to somewhere. Neither can we go from doubt to faith.
Romans 1:17 says “Righteousness is revealed from faith to faith” From faith to faith, so it has to begin in faith and move on to faith till the end. Similar is the case with Victory. You go from victory to victory. Not from defeat to victory. To attain victory we have to start from victory. We cannot be victorious till we see the devil as victorious. Now to begin in victory we have to be connected to the source of Victory. Our permanent, everlasting eternal source of victory is through Jesus Christ. If we are connected to this source then we are already standing in Victory.

When we hear the stories of the devil and a sense of fear settles in us, that’s the beginning of our fall.

In John 16:33, Jesus says, “ I have conquered the world”
I Cor 15:57, says “ Thanks be to God who has given us the victory.”

If we can read both these verses together, it would sound- ‘I have conquered and given it to you’. That means, the victory that Jesus took on the cross is now our, he has given it to us. His victories are now ours. In Christ we are identified with his victories.

Our Position today

2 Cor 2:14, “He leads us through triumph full procession”.

So right now you are part of a victory procession. The place you are moving right now is a route of the procession of victory. Oh what a joy it is. You may think, Oh is all these troubles, sufferings, isolation, lacking I am going through be a part of Victory. Of course it is. Daniels procession passed through the Lions den, through persecution, till it reached the Ministerial office.

Joseph’s procession passed through the pity, the slave traders, through bondage, on to prison and Potheper’s house until it reached the Prime Ministers office of Egypt.

You are right now passing for a visible form of Victory through what you are going right now.

Where is your enemy, the devil ?

Jesus defeated the devil on the cross. This word ‘defeated’ has various variants in different translations. In some places we can replaces defeated with ‘made powerless’, ‘made of no use’, ‘ineffective’, ‘value of Zero’

So that means the devil today is powerless, of no use, ineffective, and is value is equal to zero.

In Luke 10:17,18, Jesus has given us the authority to trample over snakes or scorpions. So let me ask you this question, where is the devil now or where did Jesus position him ? The answer is “Under your feet” Don’t let him climb your door steps, don’t let him run over your head, don’t let him be on your shoulder and speaking into your ears.dont let him be anywhere else other than under your feet. That’s all where he is meant to be. That’s his position.

Let the devil know that you know that he is useless, powerless and his value is zero. The devil needs to be reminded this every time, because he has lost his senses and has a memory issue. Letting him know about it helps him to keep away from messing with you. Let him not give you any suggestions regarding what you are going through. Start feeling, imagining and speaking VICTORIOUS. You are More than a CONQUERER. The value of your enemy is a big ‘0’. The only value he has in your life is the grade that you have given to him. He falsely tries to get value in your life. But remind him his value.

When he messes with you, or tells words of discomfort and discouragement and fear, tell him to mind his business, because you do not require his advice. “You are already Victorious.”

How to deal with the devil

Other than the above mentioned, James 4:7 says, “submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you” When you submit to God, and resist the devil, you would see him fleeing, not walking away. He wont dare be around you any longer. My friend, YOU ARE A VICTORY STORY.

ACCEPT AND REAFFIRM CHRIST’S VICTORY IN YOUR LIFE
STAND FIRM IN YOUR FAITH
TAKE AUTHORITY THROUGH THE WORD
BE IN THE POWER of THE HOLY SPIRIT

Enjoy Your Victory !!!! Be Blessed

Inevitable
Continual
Necessary
Productive
Influential
Crafted by God

Tips and advice for the tests :

Some children do not like to go to school right from the beginning and some children want to drop out, because they do not want to go through the tests. Only the parents, teachers and elders would know what lies ahead of them when they pass these tests.
Every test leads you to a higher grade.

So during the test never become (be careful with these)
DISILLUSIONED
DISTRAUGHT
DISTRACTED
ANGRY
BITTER
HARDENED
REJECTED

The purpose of every test is:

To reveal what we understand
To reveal what we don’t understand
To reveal to us the applicability of the lesson

When you Pass these TEST you become OVERCOMERS.

Young Roger was reading a novel. He read half way through the book and the hero in the novel was about to commit suicide because of the situations. Roger closed the book for a while and later turned up to the last chapter of the book. He later came back to the portion he left reading and said, “ Oh my hero, if u really knew your end, you wont even think about the suicide.” This pain is nothing compared to the great reward at the end.

“He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much” Luke 16:10

Where is God during the recession

5 02 2009

Back in the 1950’s, a Time magazine reporter interviewed a world-famous pianist about his work. The reporter asked: “What’s most challenging about playing the piano?” The pianist thought for a moment and replied: “I do OK with the notes, but the spaces between the notes give me lots of trouble.”
What he meant, of course, was that he was very competent at the mechanics of playing the piano, but found the subtlety and nuance of making music, getting the “spaces between the notes” right, a continual life-long challenge. This is at times similar to life situations. We lived in a time of economic boom for the last decade and now come a time of recession.
Recession is characterized by large layoffs, and more jobless people, with many formerly high-paid manufacturing and professional employees being forced into much lower paid service positions.
The picture I have known for some time that the market moves in approximately 15 year cycles. The market goes up for 15 years then seems to go sideways for the next 15 years. This growth and then consolidation pattern happens frequently through out history. And then there is an important factor of market correction.
Recession is not new term. We have all studies about the great depression between 1929 and 1933. It made a nice rebound following the depression. Recessions are relatively short and can be very violent to investors in the stock market. The expansion period following recessions are much longer and historically quite good.
I had not given a serious thought about the current situation, until a friend of mine called me last day from the middle east asking for prayer. His company’s new projects were either put on hold or cancelled. So there was a great risk of loosing his job.
What does God expect from his children during this crisis?
After you see God work in amazing ways, its easy and we often put our guards down. You have been to the spiritual mountain and stood on its peak. Who would have guessed a steep slope lay before you. The truth is that no spiritual experience or exercise can protect you from a failure.
At times when we have an economic boom or a successful times, the Church and God’s people tend to forget or get into a kind of comfort zone. The dependency on God replaces with the materialistic or financial stability. So this is a time when God’s people or the Church as a whole can look back for their trust and dependency on God.

No matter how much we have been in relation with God, he still loves us. This brings hope to God’s people. We can remember Jeremiah 29 : 11, there God promises to his children “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” God’s people should know that this crisis of a short period is not a stage where they would be destroyed, but all those who can call upon his name they have a prosperous future.
In Psalm 34:19, it says “A righteous man may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all.” Yes, you got it right, indeed it means – ALL.
Psalm 34: 9 says “Fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing.” It is for you. The economy may be going down. Finance may be low. Financial institutions may be collapsing, but when you fear God, you will lack nothing.
So this is the time to cheer up, and shout aloud – “even though I walk through the valley of shadow of death, I shall fear no evil”. Don’t look at what the wall street journal says, but trust what God’s promise for you is. This is the day that the LORD has made, and I will rejoice and be glad in it.
Our struggles are temporal. Your eyes have not seen, your ears have not heard what the Lord has stored in for you.
In Luke 15, we read about the prodigal son. During the famine he had nothing, He lost everything, he had no one to call upon. The only option for him was to end his life. But then he thought about his father. If you are reading this article and you are in a similar situation this moment, remember your father in Heaven is waiting with arms open wide. Just call upon the name of Jesus. All those who call on hi name will be saved and will never be ashamed.
When there was a famine in the time of Joseph, He had everything in store. The people went to Pharaoh for help, but the Pharaoh said – “Go to Joseph”. That’s a real man of God. In times of famine God provided Elijah with the best food, which no one except the king could afford in the entire nation.
So if you are in God’s had this moment “He is going to take you through this. You will walk though water, it will not drown you. When you pass through fire it will not burn you.
But I don’t see a Hope
You shall not see rain, You shall not see wind, but your valley shall be filled with water. And this is a small thing in the sight of God.
So cheer up. This is the YEAR of FULFILMENT for you.

Do you love me ?

4 02 2009

In John 21:15-17   before the crucifixion Peter had denied
the Lord three times. This was the culmination of three and
a half disappointing years that he had been with the Lord,
during which he had proved himself proud, self-assertive
and, prayerless. Yet the Lord, when about to entrust Peter
with the feeding of His sheep, made no reference to any of
these weaknesses. He did not even challenge him to be humble
and prayerful in the future and to witness boldly, facing
persecution if need be for the sake of his Lord. No, He did
not ask any such questions, although these are indeed the
qualifications we should look for in a spiritual man, and
especially in one who is to be a leader among God’s people.

The Lord Jesus knew that one simple question would be
sufficient. If that question found a true response,
everything else would automatically follow. “Lovest thou Me
more than everything and everyone else?” Love for Christ is
the real  test of any man’s spirituality.

The test of genuine spirituality in God’s sight is one thing
and one only: the extent of your love for Him. Ultimately
that is something between you and your Lord alone. He puts
the question: “Lovest thou me?” and it is for you to find
the answer.

Not by the Work of Our Hands

19 01 2008

Romans Chapter 4: 1 – 6

“What shall we say then…….. Abraham believed God and because of his faith God accepted him as righteous….”

God accepted Abraham as righteous because of his faith in Him. In Gen Ch 12 God call Abraham to leave his nation his fathers home and his own people, and here we see this man Abraham accepting the Lords word and moving out into an unseen future. And then we know of what happened to Abraham thereafter.

In Rom 4:3 we see that God accepted Abraham as righteous because of his faith. It was not because of any good things that Abraham had done, nor it was because of the great things he had done for the Lord, it was purely an act of God to accept Abraham as righteous and shower the divine grace upon him.

Abraham was not justified because of His work, but because of his faith or his personal relationship with God. Abraham was still a gentile when he found favor in God’s sight. Abraham had nothing to boast except his God who had saved him by his grace that came through faith.

There are two major covenants in the Bible. The First one is the Mosaic covenant seen in the Old Testament, the covenant of law which is a conditional law. This law is based on parameters, which needs to be fulfilled and equivalent for a result. For eg: it would sound more like

Do and obey = Blessing & Failure, Disobey = Curse or Punishment.

The New Testament (NT) law is a law based on Grace. It’s an unconditional law. It does not depend on what a person does or acts but is only based upon God’s favor through faith.

As we are under the NT Covenant, God blesses us and keeps his promise to us despite our failures, sins and shortcomings. We are abiding under the grace. Whenever we make a mistake, we run to the one who can forgive and then we are forgiven, there is no condemnation.

Legalism demands obedience or high level of holiness God’s grace is motivated by love. The bible demands us to be holy because God is Holy, but as Apostle Paul puts it (Rom ch 7:14), at times I cannot do what I am supposed to do and do things that I am not supposed to do. He cannot be purely holy perfect, but we are constantly striving to be more holier than we are at time moment.

What is Grace ?

Grace is unmerited favor, it is unrelated to any deeds we do. It is not withheld because of anything or any act or work. God’s grace is consistent. God’s grace is reaching down to help the sinner who is unable to help themselves. (Churches which do not allow sinners to come inside should think twice)

We sustain because of the Grace of God not because of the works of our hands. So as in Romans Ch 4, we have no scope to boast.

The people who claim to follow the Bible and depend on their work and actions to be declared right before God have not understood the Bible.

The Catholic understanding is that Grace + Good Works = Salvation

The Evangelical or rather Biblical understanding is Grace + salvation results in Good Works. Most people have mixed it up.

Paul says “What a wretched man I am…”

Many a times we are faithful but despite there is no blessing or fruit. We are diligent but there is no result. We exercise or faith, believe in God, but everything is in vain. Let’s understand we cannot get results until we find God’s favor or grace through the faith in His son.

Psalms teaches us that God is close to the broken hearted and to hears those with a contrite spirit.

So we need to lift our eyes from who we are and what we have and confess that “Lord. I am nothing without you, I need your favor and Grace”

Remember Ps 137, unless the Lord builds the house, the laborers are in vain, unless the Lord, protect the watchmen are in vain” Unless we fins God’s favor, our efforts are in vain. It is not because there are not enough laborers to build and watchmen to protect, but unless the Lord is over it..;…. it’s in vain

The same principle which we have read above works with our finances. We cannot expect God to bless us more because we pay more for in the church and different ministries. In Mark 12: 41- 43, we read about the poor lady who puts 2 copper coins in offering. Jesus says she has put more. The other people too have put their tithe. The NT does not mention about tithing, here its more of a generous giving. We do not give out of the need to fulfill the law, but out of love for God and for God’s mandate. It’s a sorry state that today’s evangelist and tele-evangelist have corrupted the New Testament understanding of giving. They have made it into give and take or invest and profit or give 1 and take 2.They have degraded the very power of God and are questioning the grace of God through their teachings.

In Gen Ch 14: 20, Abram, gives 10% to the King of Salem. Right after this giving, the King of Sodom offers Abram the wealth of his kingdom. But Abram strait away refuses it. He refuses it because he was not expecting a return when he gave to the Lord, because he did not give so that he would get back more. His eyes were set on Highest of the Highest. Because of his faith, God gave him much more in later stages as we know.

Psalm 50: 12 says that the whole world and everything in it belongs to God. Today for many giving to God is a kind of business or investment for profit. The eyes are upon the things of this world or for the pleasure this world can offer. It’s a common thing this day to hear preachers on the stage shouting: Give and it shall be given unto you. Or the Lord needs, it an urgent needs to give and help, or support.

They have bounded God under a law. Take and Give more.

  1. They prove that God has lot of needs. (Questioning God greatness)
  2. You have to give to him so that he can give you back. (Questioning the love of God)
  3. We are paying God for our blessing and to receive his Grace.
  4. Sow $50 or $100 in this particular ministry, and the Lord will give you a car or a house or for a job………….. whatever you ask. (But the Bible says whatever you ask in my name, I will give it to you…, there is no precondition to his giving, now we are setting our focus on the things of the world, listen to Jim Reeves song “This world is not my home….. I am just passing through…”)

Its time for us to come back to the basics, and not give heed to such heresies that are creeping into the Church. God is all sufficient to provide all your needs irrespective of what you can give to him.

In John 21:15-17 before Christ’s crucifixion, Peter had denied the Lord three times. This was the culmination of three and a half disappointing years that he had been with the Lord, during which he had proved himself proud and self-assertive. Peter himself and the other disciples must have thought that Peter would be condemned or punished for such an act of denying and disowning his relationship with Christ. Yet it was to Peter to whom Christ gave authority over his sheeps. When Christ was about to entrust Peter with the feeding of His sheep, he made no reference to any of these weaknesses or failures. He did not even challenge him to be humble and prayerful in the future and to witness boldly, facing persecution if need be for the sake of his Lord. No, He did not ask any such questions, although these are indeed the qualifications we should look for in a spiritual man, and especially in one who is to be a leader among God’s people.

The Lord Jesus knew that one simple question would be sufficient. If that question found a true response, everything else would automatically follow. “Lovest thou Me more than everything and everyone else?” Love for Christ is the real test of any man’s spirituality.

The test of genuine spirituality in God’s sight is one thing and one only: the extent of your love for Him. Ultimately that is something between you and your Lord alone. He puts the question: “Lovest thou me?” and it is for you to find the answer.

And when you get into this divine relationship there begins the divine Grace. Then you are under His grace. Then our merits and actions are completely washed away and just his grace continues. My Grace is sufficient for you.

May the Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you now and always.
